Kirov Stadium: Krestovsky Ostrov, Morskoy Prospect.
This is the second largest stadium in the U.S.S.R. (after the Lenin Stadium in Moscow) and one of the largest stadiums in Europe. Designed by architects A. S. Nikolsky, K. I. Kashin and N. N. Stepanov. Total capacity — 110,000, with seats for 80,000 people. The benches, installed on an artificially raised bank, come down in an amphitheatre on the inner slopes.

The amphitheatre is divided into 52 sectors, each with 55 rows of seats. The aggregate length of benches is 34 kilometres. In a wide square in front of the main entrance stands a monument to S. M. Kirov, made by sculptor V. B. Pinchuk. Situated on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, in the midst of the extensive green massif of the Krestovsky Ostrov — the Primorsky Victory Park — and surrounded by convenient asphalted drives, the Stadium pro; duces a magnificent impression upon all visitors.

The Kirov Stadium is the arena of the most important sportgames, — football matches and other international competitions included.
